Dear Climate Vets,

I'm very happy to let you know that Australian Veterinarians for Conservation Biology included a piece about our group in their Spring 2018 newsletter. I'm very grateful to them for letting more veterinarians know about us.
AVCB is doing fantastic work - check them out:

I am pleased to have found this group. I was considering getting a group of Australian Vets started similar to the group started for Australian Medicos.
They have recently made a well publicised statement on their concerns of Climate Change events on human health, but I have not seen a similar statement by the Veterinary Profession.
However, Climate Vets may already be doing this.
Can you tell me if Climate Vets is a group of Australian Vets, or Vets worldwide.
I believe the Veterinary profession is well versed on important matters like Biodiversity and the ongoing disappearance of so many species of flora and fauna, and perhaps could have a louder public voice on how we can reduce climate change events.
Personally, I would like to be more actively and publicly involved, and contribute something to making a difference.
Sincerely
John McKenna BVSc, BAgrSc.
Devonport, Tasmania.

Hi John, thank you for posting this excellent comment - yes, I agree with you entirely!
Climate Vets is a global network. There is also an Australian group forming along the lines of DEA (Doctors for the Environment Australia) with one of the specific aims being to "To formulate, promote and support policies to reduce and draw down greenhouse gas emissions."
I will be putting up a post about this group in the next few days (should have done so before now but have been struggling with climate change in an even more hands-on way - bushfires - the last 2 weeks).
You can join both groups. I'd be happy to add you to Climate Vets if you fill in the contact form; and I would definitely encourage you to also join Veterinarians for Climate Action, the newly forming Australian group, here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScsQJ-Li6O5EnFFdSpqXIZBiqKDlhCj3Ob8s0hL7sp5pceguw/viewform
- we can definitely use your help!
Kindest regards, Angela
